Overview
POP CONCEPT: Andy Warhol, Mel Bochner, Harland Miller

“You need to let the little things that would ordinarily bore you suddenly thrill you.”

- ANDY WARHOL

Arton Contemporary is pleased to present 'POP-CONCEPT', a curated exhibition showcasing works by Andy Warhol, Harland Miller, and Mel Bochner — pioneers of the Pop and Conceptual art movements in the 20th century.

All three artists used different techniques to create the work in this collection. Andy Warhol experimented with the flexibility and reproducibility of screenprinting. He used bold swipes of color and registration techniques to break the bounds of the traditional printmaking practices. Although each print is released as an edition, no two Andy Warhol prints are the exact same. Harland Miller used woodcut printmaking to create his artworks including his 'Letters' series included in this exhibition. His woodcut prints are expressive and communicative, commenting on the continuously evolving state of language and fusing printmaking, painting, and the written word into one piece of art. Mel Bochner uses three dimensional casting techniques with various materials to build his text based works. This exhibition features his larger than life piece 'Is This It?' which invites the viewer to explore the relationship between 'seeing' and 'reading' art.

The 'POP-CONCEPT' collection at Arton Contemporary includes limited edition prints and unique works, each hand signed by their respective artist.
